Menu Covers- How to choose.

There was a famous saying that one can not judge a book by its cover, but it seems that it has been proven wrong, as now you can determine the worth of a restaurant by its cover. Yes, its true, Menu covers speaks all about a restaurant’s image. These covers not only tell their customers about the dishes and beverages listed on the menu but also that these have been planned carefully and are worth their time. The colors, material, and the design used for the menu covers reflect how well a restaurant is doing financially.

Menu covers are available in different materials such as canvas, fabric, plastic, leather, vinyl, card stock, or cork. Most of them are available in 9-by-12-inch format, and differ in sizes that is 5.5 by 8.5 inches & 10 by 13 inches. The number of meals listed and ease of use define the ideal size of a restaurant menu cover.

Colors also play an essential role in creation of menu cover. The colors used must go with the theme of a restaurant. Also, the color used for any menu cover should create positive feelings and energy. If the restaurant caters to family customers with young children, then the idea of having multiple bright colors can be great. The brighter the colors used, the higher the cost of printing one, as prices are determined per color.

Nowadays, the design or theme of a menu cover depends on the size of restaurant and their customer’s profile. For example, if you own a family restaurant, you can put a brief copy of your business’ history or your food philosophy for your clients. Casual family dining establishments usually use laminated covers with appealing photos of food & their specialty. Some of these can be pancakes, burgers, desserts, pizza or any food that appeals children. If your restaurant is situated in an old or historic building, you can include vintage photos of the building on it for identification purposes.

Hence, the menu cover should not only look appealing to the customers, but these should be functional as well. A good menu cover is made up of durable materials to protect the pages inside the menu. The choice of material usually depends on the type of restaurant. For example, the preferable cover for a posh restaurant will be made up of expensive and elegant leather. Plastic menu covers may not be the choice of such posh restaurants as these may look too cheap and low quality. But on the other side, these may seem just right for a mid-price eatery.

So, if you manage a restaurant, it is advisable that you carefully choose your menu cover. As though it is small but it is an important step in driving more customers into your restaurant.
